Getaway Campsite Rules

The following rules are intended to provide you with an enjoyable camping experience. Please note that violation of these rules could mean early departure without a refund. Instead, read thoroughly so you can enjoy your stay worry-free!


CHECK-IN TIME: 3:00PM               CHECK-OUT TIME: 11:00 AM

GUESTS:  Getaway facilities are for use by registered guests only. Visitors are required to be pre-registered before entering. There can be no more than 4 people registered to one site at any given time.

QUIET HOURS:  10:00PM – 8:00AM. All campers should return to their site by 10:00PM.  Rest and relaxation is important anyhow!  Please refrain from loud noises and disturbances during quiet hours. All radios and other noise must be at minimum volume, and be aware that normal speaking voices carry. Please ensure your children remain at your site until 8:00AM.

PETS:  We are pet-friendly, but owners will be totally responsible for their pets at all times. Pets must be on a leash when outside. You may leave your pet inside a unit if you leave the area, provided they will not cause any damages to the interior. Best to bring a kennel if you’re unsure! All pet litter must be cleaned up immediately. Noisy pets will not be allowed to stay, and only one warning will be issued prior to request to remove pet from park. You know your pet best! Use your best judgement, and remember that you are totally liable for your pet should there be any claim.

NEIGHBORHOOD:  The land is owned by people like me and you; please go to all lengths not to disturb neighbors and property owners! This includes staying within the marked land area at all times and following the rules as established here. Neighbors have been advised of our contact information and instructed to call if there are any issues. You will be asked to leave upon a neighbor’s complaint.

GETAWAY PROVISIONS:  Guests are able to purchase additional snacks, meals, and campfire goods from the Getaway Provisions offered.  Feel free to use as much or as little as you need, we’ve stocked the Provisions for your convenience.  Guests agree to pay for each item they open, either by cash or via Venmo @GetawayHouse.  Provisions range from $2 – $12, honor system in place!

CAMPFIRES:  All fires must be contained inside the fire ring located on the land. Campfires must be kept knee-high or below, and not left unattended. Please don’t dispose of cans, bottles, or other household trash in your fire pit! All fires must be extinguished by midnight. Look out for a notification by email and text message if there is a burning ban in place – you will not be allowed to have a campfire.

FIREWOOD / TREES:  No cutting of trees is allowed in the campground or adjoining properties. Please do not drive nails into, or disfigure trees. Additionally, please do not tie clotheslines to trees or shrubs. Firewood must be purchased locally.

WILDLIFE:  Please respect wildlife in the area, and use your noggin’!  Keep the site clean, don’t leave food out for the critters, and keep all personal items secure.

PARKING:  Registered guests must park in the assigned area. Two cars max allowed per site.  Extra eco points if you carpool instead!

Terms and Conditions


Getaways are located on campgrounds that are often very rural, mostly undeveloped plots of land in the woods. You are completely responsible for your own safety and for having basic wilderness survival skills (e.g. do not approach wild animals, do not leave food out, etc.). Getaway is not liable for damage to personal property, including vehicles, due to exposure to inclement weather or rural, rugged settings.  By booking a Getaway, you recognize and accept this responsibility and affirm you have these general skills.


“Getaways,” also known as “Getaway Units,” “Getaway Houses,” “Getaway Cabins,” “Tiny Houses,” or “Getaway Tiny Houses” are non-motorized recreational vehicles that are built to recreational vehicle standards and kept in highway ready condition.  


Your getaway is booked upon receipt of the booking payment.  This payment should be made by credit card through the Getaway website. Your booking is not confirmed until Getaway receives the payment and you have received the confirmation email.  This confirmation email contains booking details, contact details, and other arrival and departure instructions.  Furthermore, the client will receive an email one week before check in regarding the location of the Getaway.


Getaway offers the purchase of gift cards through our website only.  The gift card includes a code that may be used to book a Getaway stay in any available cabin of the recipient’s choosing.  All gift card purchases are final sale and do not expire.


No guest is allowed to book more than seven consecutive days at any Getaway location.


All cancellations or changes to your booking must be made via email or by phone.  In the event of cancellation of a fully paid booking, there is a cancellation charge corresponding to the number of days it was made, prior to the day of arrival:

At least 30 days prior = no cancellation charge (full refund).

7-29 days prior = cancellation charge equals 50% of the total booking amount (partial refund).

Less than 7 days prior = 100% of the total amount paid (no refund).

In the event that the guest changes the dates, it will be considered a new booking and will be subject to the standard cancellation procedures.  If, after receipt of the confirmation email, Getaway is unable to provide the client with the property that they booked or a property with similar or better characteristics, the client will be refunded subject to the following conditions:

100% of the total booking amount.


Please note that by accepting our Terms and Conditions you agree that you are liable for any damages caused by you or your accompanying party.


You are expected familiarize yourself with Getaway’s policies and get in touch with our team if you have any questions before check-in.  We will prepare your cabin for check-in and can be prepared to help with your arrival.  Your confirmation email states contact information for Getaway, should you need it.


Your Getaway will be available for check-in at 3:00pm. If you arrive for check-in after 10:00pm, do note that quiet hours are in effect.  You may be subject to a fee for loud disturbances during quiet hours.


You should leave the tiny house before or at 11:00am. Leaving after 11:00am without prior authorization will be penalized.  If you need to leave the location at a later time, please contact Getaway prior to your arrival and ask if this is possible.  We will try to meet your request, but can not guarantee late checkouts.


On the day of your departure you should leave the Getaway clean and tidy with all waste correctly disposed of. Please leave and lock the door behind you, after making sure that you have all your personal belongings.  The security code will then be changed remotely for the next guest.  Getaway is not responsible for returning any personal belongings left behind after check-out.


The Getaway will be cleaned prior to each guests arrival.  Before leaving, the client is obliged to leave the Getaway in perfect conditions, i.e. all waste should be correctly disposed of and the tiny house tidied. If not, there will be an additional cleaning charge.


The client should inform Getaway of the number of guests in the booking and pay for any additional guests, if the number exceeds two.  Only those persons indicated in the booking made by the client may enter the tiny house, unless an alternative agreement has been reached with Getaway.  The number of clients using the Getaway should not exceed the number assigned to each tiny house, except for in the case of infants under the age of two.

Individuals booking a reservation on behalf of their client are encouraged to use the contact information of their client and otherwise assume the responsibility of relaying all reservation instructions and details to their client.


All clients staying in the cabin must be 18 years of age or older, unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.  Guests are required to use a credit card in their own name in order to book a cabin.  

No illegal substances or underage drinking are permitted in the Getaway cabins or on Getaway property.  Getaway will not be held responsible for underage drinking, and violations of this policy will result in immediate expulsion from the Getaway premises without refund, and the involvement of law enforcement.


Pets are allowed on the property, but must be on a leash when outside.  You may leave your pet inside the tiny house if you leave the area, provided he or she does not cause any damages to the interior.  If guests are unsure about leaving their pet, it is suggested they bring a kennel for the dog while unattended.  All pet litter must be cleaned up immediately, and one warning will be given to noisy pets before he or she will be requested to leave.  You are totally liable for your pet should there be any claim.  Guests bringing pets will be charged $15/per stay.  All guests must be aware that pets may have occupied the Getaway previous to their own stay.  Getaway is not responsible for any negative reactions regarding pet allergies or otherwise.


Unruly, disruptive and destructive behavior and criminal activity is prohibited.  Guests in a Getaway cabin should be aware that if loud music is played or a party is held, and the neighbors complain and/or police are called, you may be immediately removed from the tiny house regardless of the time, day or night.


Internet services are not provided for the use of Getaway guests in any case.


Smoking is not permitted inside the tiny house and must be done responsibly at a minimum distance of 25 feet from the building.  Litter is not permitted on the land, and the client must clean up all cigarette butts responsibly and safely.


Getaways  are offered for rental during the winter months and have road access and receive snow clearance services. However, clients are advised that following any major snowfall, snow plow providers are contracted to clear local roads in a predetermined order. Consequently, plowing at a property may be delayed for several hours or, in severe storm conditions, days. In the unlikely event that a client is unable to leave a property on the planned departure date, the client will not be liable for any additional accommodation charges. Conversely, should a lack of snow clearance prevent a client from reaching a property, the client will receive a refund of the rental fee for the day(s) the property was inaccessible. However, Getaway will not be held responsible for any losses, additional expenses or penalties incurred as a result of being unable to arrive at or leave a property on time due to a lack of snow clearance. Clients are also reminded to ensure that they and their vehicles are suitably prepared and equipped for driving in the wintry conditions likely to be encountered during their visit to the property.


Getaway reserves the right to move any Getaway unit at any time.  If a Getaway unit must be moved in advance of an upcoming booking, we will make every attempt to inform the guest of the location change before their stay.

All equipment and facilities are provided at the discretion of Getaway and while every attempt is made to ensure that such equipment is in working order for the duration of the rental period, should a breakdown or some other situation occur that renders non-essential element unusable, Getaway does not take responsibility for replacing or refunding the client for the lack of use of these equipment or facilities. The equipment and facilities referred to include (but are not exclusive to) such items as stove, toilet, and sink. The client must report any inoperative or defective equipment to Getaway promptly! We will make every reasonable effort to have repairs made as soon as possible.  While every attempt will be made to ensure that all the advertised equipment and appliances are in working order at the commencement of a rental period, no reduction of rent, rebate, or refund will be issued for a mechanical failure of any appliances.


All guests have the option to buy from the Getaway Provisions during their stay.  These purchases are made using the honor system, placing trust in the customer.  If, at any time, guests have been found to be non-forthcoming with their transactions are have not paid for items they used from the Provisions, Getaway reserves the right to charge said guests accordingly, as well as prevent the guests from staying with Getaway in the future.


Getaways are placed on plots of land where wildlife may be present.  The client agrees to take appropriate safety measures to prevent negative interactions with wildlife in the area.  This includes, but is not limited to, not engaging with wild animals, keeping food out of reach, keeping the site clean, and securing all personal items.  Wood ticks, mosquitos, and other insects may also be present at the site – the client is expected to take necessary steps of precaution against these insects.  The client is also not permitted to harm the land or the natural habitat of any wildlife in any way.  Getaway is not liable for any personal injury due to wildlife or insects.


The client agrees to read and abide by all rules specific to their booking, which may vary by Getaway unit and location.  These rules must be read and agreed to before booking confirmation.  Getaway will also place the rules inside each unit, accessible to the client.  If rules are not abided by, Getaway reserves the right to ask the client to leave the property and pay for any necessary damages as a result of the clients’ disregard for these rules.


By booking a Getaway, clients also agree to receive our newsletter.  Clients may unsubscribe at any time.


When clients visit, Getaway collects standard internet log information and details of visitor behavior patterns in order to find out the number of visitors to various parts of the site and to improve our web presence.  We collect this information in a way which does not personally identify anyone.  Most web browsers allow for some control of cookies through the browser settings.


The client will not hold Getaway responsible for any direct or indirect damages caused to the tiny house as consequence of use. This includes damages, insurance, loss due to fire, theft, and misconduct.

In the event that the client fails to comply with the aforementioned Terms and Conditions, Getaway reserves the right to ask the client to leave the unit and property, and the client in question can not request any form of compensation.

The client, on submitting these terms and conditions, agrees to behave responsibly and correctly on behalf of their accompanying party as well as themselves. If this person, or any of the accompanying party behaves in an unsuitable and incorrect manner, Getaway reserves the right to ask the person and their accompanying party to leave the tiny house. Furthermore, from that moment on they will have no right to future claims or any form of compensation. Finally, the client will lose all payments made including the tiny house rental and any extras they prepaid for.  May we remind you that on booking a tiny house with Getaway you automatically accept our Terms and Conditions, which we expect you to comply with.
