Director / VP of Marketing

Working closely with the CEO, the inaugural head of Marketing will lead the Marketing department and will be chiefly responsible for defining, defending and growing the Getaway brand. This person will be responsible for communicating the brand through paid, earned and owned media; delivering the brand experience through the creation of a world-class, end-to-end product experience; and extending the brand through smart customer relationship management. This is an opportunity for the right individual to join an early-stage team and shape the next iconic hospitality brand.

The head of Marketing will manage a department responsible for everything the guest sees during their Getaway journey, including:
- Brand development
- Pricing
- Paid media (SEM, social)
- PR / SEO / earned media
- Event marketing
- Graphic design (digital, print)
The head of Marketing may also oversee Product, depending on his/her relevant expertise.
Product at Getaway includes: - Digital user interface
- Architectural and interior design
- Interior design
- Food and beverage program
The head of marketing will have both small internal and external teams and a budget to execute the marketing plan she or he will develop in collaboration with the CEO. Nonetheless, it is anticipated that this role will be filled by someone who has experience and enjoys rolling up his or her sleeves and doing the work themselves.
Governing Metrics
Net Promoter Score will be used as the primary metric for demonstrating success in the role. In addition, as a member of the company leadership team, position performance will also be evaluated based on revenue performance and rebookings rate. The Marketing department interfaces closely with the Guest Experience (GX) department, which is responsible for delivering the Brand Experience to our guests on-site every day, and the Technology department, which delivers the Brand Experience online.
Ideal Experience for the Role
Candidates for this position must have a proven ability to harmonize two often opposing forces -- creative forces and commercial forces -- by coming up with elegant solutions that meet or exceed company goals. The best candidates will have experience working on products or services that exist in the physical world but are primarily sold online (e.g. real estate, hospitality, consumer products, fashion retail, restaurants). The ideal candidate has experience managing teams and successfully growing brands from the earliest stages.
- 5-10 years marketing experience, including exposure to multiple marketing disciplines (e.g. brand, event, paid, social, etc.); ideally this includes early stage companies
- Proven ability to be simultaneously creative and practical
- Analytical approach to problem solving
- Leadership by doing; team player
- Cultural recognition of target audience
- Deep enthusiasm for the product

Full Stack Developer

If you’re reading this job description, you’re probably someone that spends a lot of time on the computer. Although we leverage these tools like any other business does, our product seeks to give our guests a break from the digital world, in an effort to find a little relaxation. We’re putting tiny houses outside of major cities so our guests can get away and set up a high-speed interface with their humanity. We create and maintain technology that enables a mystical experience for our guests and removes stress from their lives.

Primary responsibilities include:
-  Building new features for and maintaining the current functionality of our website, written with a React/SASS front end and Ruby on Rails back end, in an Agile working environment
-  Some minor developer operations tasks ensuring the website is serving our customers well and performing to our expectations; currently on Heroku
-  Supporting the cabin automation effort, working on software to make the guest experience seamless and magical; currently written in Groovy and Ruby
-  Writing internal tools to support our Guest Experience team and make it extremely easy for guests to get the things they need to have a wonderful time on their Getaways
-  Continuing to find efficiencies and ways to leverage software to improve our team’s workflows and the way we do business

Location and transportation:
- Getaway HQ is located in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, but we are open to remove candidates that could visit our office at least twice a month.
